Overview

This standard specifies tests and requirements for primary batteries with aqueous electrolyte. For the other standards of the DIN EN 60086 series, it is the valid reference standard regarding safety. Moreover, recommendations are given regarding the design of battery compartments ensuring safety under reasonably foreseeable misuse. The responsible committee is K 372 "Primärbatterien" ("Primary batteries") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
