The approval of woodworking machines often causes problems in practice. VDI 3415 Part 1 provides information that primarily relate to the management of the process of definition and acquisition of machines, particularly with regard to quality. VDI 3415 Part 2 focuses on statistical procedures for process qualification. The procedures of the process capability analysis are presented and suitable information is given for application to machines or plants of the wood working sector. An exact product specification is exemplified as prerequisite for successful process qualification but also for daily quality management. The standard presents in particular the application of the system of geometric product specification as well as methods for the test of process suitability and capability analysis. It refers to everyone who is familiar with the process qualification of woodworking machines in serial production. These are in particular project and sales engineers, product managers at manufacturers of woodworking machines, employees in quality management, test engineers and experts.
