Short description
The expansion of the available battery technologies for the energy supply of battery-operated industrial trucks to include lithium(Li)-ion batteries and the changed state of the art with regard to battery changing facilities have made a fundamental revision of this standard necessary. Lead batteries and Li-ion batteries have application-specific advantages, which are described in this standard and thus support the industrial truck operator in selecting the most suitable technology for the respective, specific application. Until now, a battery change model was generally required for multi-shift use of industrial trucks. Suitable tools are essential for this in order to ensure safe and efficient battery changes. The use of exchangeable batteries is still widespread today, but many multi-shift operations can now also be carried out with intermediate charging models and thus without battery changes. The further development of battery technology for lead batteries towards high-performance lead batteries and the introduction of Li-ion batteries for industrial trucks have contributed significantly to this.
