Air humidifiers serve to control the supply air humidity as required by the specific use. This air humidity is determined by comfort requirements (occupied spaces), animals, plants, materials or by the processing and storage of industrial products or other goods. The standard applies to air humidification in the supply, extract and exhaust air sections of centralised VAC installations. The standard specifies requirements to be met by air humidifiers installed in such VAC installations and offers an overview over various humidifier systems; criteria to be considered when selecting such a system are given. Furthermore, requirements to be considered in the planning, erection, operation and maintenance of air humidifier systems are specified. The standard does not apply to local or removable air humidifiers. Such units are covered by VDI 6022 Part 6.
