Short description
Complaints about odours in ambient air are very common, especially if a plant is located in the immediate vicinity of residential areas. Conflicts may occur in spite of compliance with legal requirements. The guideline describes principles and typical applications of communication methods and procedures aiming at the prevention and settlement of conflicts. The guideline's main users are applicants/plant operators as well as surveillance and licensing authorities and sector agencies. Principally, the communication methods for conflict prevention and settlement presented in this guideline are also applicable to other pollutants than odour immissions.
