Short description
This standard provides an overview of the measurement of the particle number concentration in ambient air with condensation particle counters and describes the measurement principle on which the method is based. Furthermore, it defines the specific requirements on the method and its characteristics resulting from the measurement objective. This method is also suitable for the characterisation of test aerosols. Depending on the design of the condensation particle counter, particles in the size range between about 0,001 µm (1 nm) and about 5 µm and number concentrations in the range between a few particles per cubic metre and about 10E+13 m-3 can be measured.
