This standard specifies the procedure for the verification of cutting edges without wear. It applies to coated and uncoated tools. The focus is on measurement data acquisition and evaluation, not on the measurement process itself.The described process begins with the acquisition of measurement data using optical or tactile measuring devices. Individual profiles are then extracted, averaged and analysed. The standard defines basic specifications and standard requirements for the measurement. The profiles are analysed using the parameters defined in Part 2 of this series of standards.
