This document specifies test methods for the determination of the slip resistance of surfaces in the most commonly encountered situations in which pedestrians walk. This Technical Specification does not deal with sports surfaces and road surfaces for vehicles (skid resistance). This European Technical Specification (CEN/TS 16165:2016) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 339 "Slip resistance of pedestrian surfaces - Methods of evaluation" (secretariat DIN, Germany). The responsible committee for this standard is NA 062-08-82 AA "Prüfung der rutschhemmenden Eigenschaft von Bodenbelägen" ("Testing of the slip resistance characteristic of floor coverings") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
