Short description

1.1 This method covers the determination of bromine (Br) and chlorine (Cl) in uranium hexafluoride (UF 6 ) and uranyl nitrate solution. The method as written covers the determination of bromine in UF 6 over the concentration range of 0.2 to 8 µg/g, uranium basis. The chlorine in UF 6 can be determined over the range of 4 to 160 µg/g, uranium basis. Higher concentrations may be covered by appropriate dilutions. The detection limit for Br is 0.2 µg/g uranium basis and for Cl is 4 µg/g uranium basis. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. 1.3 This standard may involve hazardous materials, operations and equipment. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
