Short description

1.1 This terminology standard is a compilation of definitions and abbreviations (acronyms and initialisms) from the terminology sections of standards developed by ASTM Committee E50.02 on Real Estate Assessment and Management. The terms herein are related to the subject of environmental and physical condition assessments of buildings and property. 1.2 The purpose of this terminology standard is to provide shared/preferred terminology for ASTM Committee E50.02 along with the meanings and explanations of those terms. 1.3 This terminology standard includes terms important to ASTM Committee E50.02 on Real Estate Assessment and Management, and as such, may relate to objectives distinct from the use of the terms in other ASTM International standards. If any ASTM standard uses any of these terms in a different context or with a different definition, the term shall be as defined in that standard. 1.4 The terms in this standard may also be distinct from the use of such terms by other organizations such as federal, state, municipal, tribal, non-profit, not-for-profit, academic, professional, and for-profit entities, as well as international organizations, governments, and the overall real estate industry. 1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
