This standard applies to excavations and foundation works next to existing buildings, as well as common underpinning of parts of the building in narrow strips, using brickwork, concrete or reinforced concrete. It states how these works can be carried out such that stability and usability of the existing buildings are maintained, and which evidence is to be provided for this. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-05-14 AA "Unterfangungsarbeiten" ("Underpinning work") at DIN.
