This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-06-63 AA "Gebrauchtöluntersuchung" ("Analysis of used oils") at Technical Committee "Mineralöl- und Brennstoffnormung (FAM)" ("Standardization of mineral oils and combustible materials") at the Standards Committee Materials Testing at DIN. This document specifies a method for determining the fuel fractions in used engine oils. Generally, these are understood as the fuel contents which for example condensate inside the engine's cylinder due to incomplete combustion and thus can enter the engine oil. The fuels concerned are petrol (DIN EN 228), diesel (DIN EN 590), fatty acid methyl esters (DIN EN 14214) and vegetable oil (DIN 51605). Gaseous fuels as well as fuels with a high alcohol content, such as E85, are not taken into account.
