Overview

The purpose of this document is to specify requirements for the design, construction/manufacture, operation, and maintenance of fixed electrotechnical and mechanical systems for direct current urban rail. The term "direct current rail" as used in this document refers to rail supplied with direct current. Newer generations of vehicles run on three-phase drives and are supplied with direct current. This document is also intended to serve as a reference for standards for the fixed electrical installations of urban rail. This document aims to enable the use of publicly accessible areas of urban rail by all groups of people. This document has been prepared by Subcommittee NA 087-00-19-06 UA "Elektrotechnische und maschinelle Einrichtungen" ("Electrical and mechanical equipment") at DIN Standards Committee Railway (FSF).
