Overview
This specification contains the initial, start of life dimensional, optical, mechanical and environmental performance requirements of a fully installed splice closure in order for it to be categorised as an EN standard product. These closures are a component for fibre-to-the-home cabling and are also used in wide area transmission technology. As a result these components are important elements of communication technology. The standard describes in a document the various types, dimensions and also the tests for the performance. The standards of the IEC 61300 series are referred to. The standard provides end users, manufacturers and test laboratories with security regarding the definitions of the tests and serves as a reference for quality assurance. The responsible committee is DKE/K 412.2 "Komponenten für Kommunikationskabelanlagen" ("Components for communication cable installations") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
