Overview

This part of IEC 62490 provides the measuring method for determining of ESL for surface mount capacitors for use in electronic equipment. The ESL measuring method can be applied for surface mount capacitors if the following characteristics are fulfilled, but it is not limited by them, however: a) capacity range: 10 µF to 1 000 µF b) size: W×L = 3,2 mm×1,6 mm to 7,3 mm×4,3 mm, H = height 4,0 mm c) ESL range: 5 nH or less. The responsible Committee is K 611 "Kondensatoren" ("Capacitors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
