International Standard ISO 5834-2:2011 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 150 "Implants for surgery", Subcommittee SC 1 "Materials", the secretariat of which is held by DIN. NA 027-02-06 AA "Implantatwerkstoffe" ("Implant materials") at the Standards Committee Optics and Precision Mechanics (NAFuO) at DIN, the German institute for Standardization e. V. is responsible. This part of ISO 5834 specifies the requirements and corresponding test methods for moulded forms, for example, sheets and rods, made from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) for use in the manufacture of surgical implants.
