Overview

In order to use HTME (High Modulus Polyethylene) towing lines in towing gears on vessels of the Navy, appropriate towing brackets of nominal sizes 6 to 9 with defined properties (magnetizable and non-magnetizable materials - nominal size 6 NM) and corresponding designs are mandatory. Towing brackets of nominal sizes 10, 11 and 12 are planned. The towing lines shall only be used in conjunction with the individual components defined in this standard and their combination and the tightened HMPE ropes. Towing brackets according to this standard are subject to qualification approval.
