Polymer optical fibres (POF) are used for signal transmission in industrial automation and vehicle applications. On packaging, installation and operation of polymer optical fibres accompanying tests are necessary to ensure the quality specified. The standards and experts recommendations of the series VDI/VDE 5570 support quality gains on testing measuring polymer optical fibres by improving reproducibility and comparability. This expert recommendation describes test methods for optical parameters. It is a fundamentally revised and updated version of the standard VDI/VDE 5570 Part 2:2006-03.
