Short description
The series of standards VDI 2776 provides assistance for the successful design and operation of modular plants in the process industry. This standard describes the basic features and requirements of operation and maintenance of these plants. The standard describes change management during the transition from plant design to the operating phase, especially in the variable lifecycle of modular framework conditions.Roles and responsibilities are defined along the asset life cycle in the operation section. The standard describes the possible operator models and elaborates the advantages and disadvantages as well as the resulting obligations. It outlines the framework conditions of the operating modes depending on the universality of the elements of the modular concept. The standard also provides recommendations for action regarding quality assurance and validation within the flexible operating configuration and explains the structured procedure for validating the selected operating mode within the operating parameters specified by the manufacturer (intended operation). This results in clear criteria for identifying reconfiguration needs. The standard regulates the structured transition from plant configuration to operation and thus the transition of role responsibility. In addition, safety engineering concepts and measures for compliance with operator obligations in the area of ArbSchG and BetrSichV are described. The standard describes the design of the distribution of tasks for inspections and maintenance, maintenance of plant components to different areas of responsibility specific to modular plants. The standard provides an outlook on different types of operators and service models and is therefore primarily aimed at operators who are faced with the decision to implement new processes either in the classic way or with a modular structure, without disregarding the issues that arise during the operation of modular systems due to the need for optimization.
