Short description

The standard describes the state of the art for agricultural biogas plants, including the use of biogas for energy in combined heat and power (CHP) plants, with particular consideration given to the air pollutants produced in the process, such as odorous substances, air pollutants and climate-relevant gases. The following input materials are used in a biogas plant within the meaning of this standard: a) all types of animal faeces produced in agricultural or commercial operations (e. g. slurry, liquid manure, solid manure), b) all crop products and crop residues from agricultural areas, c) bio-waste with low odour development, such as garden and park waste, waste from biotope maintenance, agriculture, horticulture or forestry. The standard does not apply to plants in which co-fermentation with bio-waste that cannot be classified under c) is carried out.
