Short description

This draft guideline has been technically revised by NA 001-02-03-18 AK "Revision of VDI 4100" and was finally accepted and released by NA 001-02-03 AA "Sound propagation and noise reduction in buildings, at work places and outdoors". That draft specifies in addition to E DIN 4109-1 three classes of noise protection in dwellings, flats, terraced houses and semi-detached houses with the aim of protecting persons from unacceptable and disturbing noise levels. Higher sound protection classes are declared in order to achieve higher comfort in buildings from acoustical point of view. The fundamential change in consideration of the version VDI 4100:2007 is the use of weighted standardized level differences instead of the weighted apparent sound reduction index. That is a step from the sound reduction in consideration of an element to the sound protection of the entire room. This guideline is a tool for the planner, architects, acoustic consultants, building owners, clients, landlords, tenants and buyers and sellers respectively of houses and dwellings.
