Overview

This European Standard applies to junction boxes up to 1 500 V DC for use on photovoltaic modules according to application class A of EN 61730-1:2007. The module junction boxes must be designed for the maximum system voltage of the system. It is not permissible to dimension the junction boxes to the considerably lower module voltage. For junction boxes according to application class B and C of IEC 61730, this standard can be used as a guideline. Changes have been made in Clause 2 - Normative references; 4.4 - Connection methods; 4.17 - Live parts and corrosion protection; 5.3.9.1 - Thermal shock test (EN 60068-2-14:2009, Test Nb) General; 5.3.19 - Testing of connections and connection methods and in Table 10 - Group E test sequence 1 (order to be followed) and the supplement to Figure 5 - Voltage drop measurement. The responsible committee is DKE/K 373 "Photovoltaische Solarenergie-Systeme" ("Solar photovoltaic energy systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
