Overview

This standard establishes a general guideline for the measurement of the surface of leather or leather parts by using electronic measuring machines. The standard applies to the measurement of dry leather (or dry leather parts) fulfilling the following requirements: - type of leather: light leather or other flexible leather, with or without finish, or tanned and pressed wet leather; - flexibility: such to allow full distension on the measuring line/surface. For tanned and pressed wet leather, the parties involved agree on the conditioning type. In case of dispute, leather is to be conditioned according to the reference standard conditions in ISO 2419. This document has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 289 "Leather", the secretariat of which is held by UNI, in collaboration with Technical Committee IULTCS "International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies". The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 062-05-51 AA "Anforderungen und physikalische Prüfverfahren für Leder und seine Ausgangsprodukte" ("Requirements and physical test methods of leather and …") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
