Overview

Ultrasonic induced cavitation is frequently used during immersion cleaning in liquids. The effect of transient cavitation is ultimately based on the flow and shock wave produced during a single bubble implosion on and/or near the surface to be cleaned. This mechanical effect of cavitation cannot be measured in a simple way, however. It has been proposed to perform acoustic spectral analysis on the noise generated during collapse. This DIN SPEC is intended for the measurement and judgement of the ultrasound in liquids, cleaning equipment and systems, the function of which is determined by ultrasonic induced transient, provided they can be operated with water or aqueous solutions. The responsible body is DKE/GK 831 "Leistungs-Ultraschallgeräte" ("High-performance ultrasonic devices") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
