This part of the series IEC 62040 specifies Product-Specific Rules (PSR) in accordance with ISO 14025 for uninterruptible power systems (UPS) required for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and for environmental declarations. It is primarily directed at environment and/or product managers, UPS manufacturers who want to supply reliable data on their products environmental impacts, LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) experts in companies, in charge of Environmental Product Declarations development and verifiers in charge of Environmental Product Declarations conformity assessment in accordance with the defined rules. This document applies to movable, stationary, fixed or built-in UPS that are intended to be installed in operator access areas or restricted locations, the output voltage of which does not exceed a fixed-frequency of 1000 V a.c. or 1500V d.c. This UPS can be pluggable or permanently connected, consist of a system of interconnected units or of independent units and are for use in low-voltage distribution systems. The responsible committee is DKE/K 331 "Leistungselektronik" ("Power electronics") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
