Overview

This Technical Specification provides a generally applicable definition and taxonomy of wear parts in order to distinguish them from other product components in an addressable manner. The relationships between them within the scope of economic and sustainability requirements are presented. They apply to all products, their components, and resources across all industries. This Technical Specification is intended for companies, associations, social institutions, and organizations in both the private and public sectors. It is directed in particular, though not exclusively, at regulators, standards organizations, designers, product developers, procurers, and product managers. The targeted application of this Technical Specification is intended to contribute to sustainability, climate protection, and the conservation of resources. The aim is to ensure the longest possible reuse of resources without harmful consequences by improving the functional durability of all product components. This document was developed by Working Group KU-AK 9 "Verschleißteile" ("Wear parts") at Environmental Protection Helpdesk (DIN EPH).
