Overview

This document describes basic safety requirements and tests for layman-operated, plug-in photovoltaic systems for grid-parallel operation (hereinafter: plug-in solar device), which are connected to end circuits within a low-voltage installation. This document also contains requirements to ensure mechanical safety. This document applies to single-phase plug-in solar devices with a rated voltage up to 250 V AC and for domestic and similar general purposes. The rated frequency is 50 Hz. Such a plug-in solar device consists of at least one each of a PV module, a grid-connected inverter, connecting leads, a plug-in device for connection to the final circuit, and a supplied or specified mounting system. This document applies to devices with a maximum apparent power of SAmax = 800 VA. This document serves as a basis for type testing. This document does not contain criteria for determining the suitability of the electrical installation to which the device is connected. These are defined in DIN V VDE 0100-551-1. This document does not apply to "PV installations" in accordance with DIN VDE 0100-712 (VDE 0100-712). This document is not applicable to building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) and systems. This standard does not deal with building regulations. This document is not applicable to devices with electrical energy storage. This preliminary standard applies to plug-in solar devices that are marketed as products for use by laypersons. Due to their dimensions and handling, these are electricity-generating household appliances. A standardized test procedure is therefore required for these plug-in solar devices. This preliminary standard forms the basis for type testing and the manufacturer's declaration of conformity based on this. This preliminary standard specifies the technical characteristics of the product and the safety requirements and tests for this scope of application.
