This VDE-prestandard describes a test method for evaluating the behaviour of micro cables and fibre units when they are blown into and out of a microduct. The test conditions are adapted to the conditions in practical installation in the area of in-house networks of network level 4 and network level 5. These networks involve many bends and few long, straight sections, which often run vertically. This standard is applicable to products described in VDE 0800-730 "Guidelines and qualification samples for broadband - Part 730: Guideline on material requirements for FTTH broadband networks in buildings". By way of departure from the results of this test, the achievable blowing length and blowing speed during installation may vary depending on the blowing equipment used by the installer. This test also tests the blow-out capability of the cable. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The application of this standard increases investment security for manufacturers and users, provides testing laboratories and manufacturers with defined specifications for testing, and ensures compatibility across manufacturers.
