DIN CEN/TS 16675:2014-11

This Technical Specification (TS) provides methods, which can be used to assess the monolithic character of a stabilised/solidified waste, with respect to landfilling. The methods listed allow for regular determination of the monolithic character of waste with regard to the test of the waste sample as monolithic waste for approval of its landfilling. This standard provides various methods which have been selected from existing methods for determination of the monolitic character (that is national standards or paranormative methods). This TS cannot be applied for assessment of the long-term stability of a waste sample in a certain scenario. Some of the methods described can be applied for the assessment of the long-term stability of waste on a landfill for which field trials are planned. This standard does not deal with issues related to health and safety. This document has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 292 "Characterization of waste", the secretariat of which is held by NEN (Netherlands). The responsible German committee is NA 119-01-02-05 UA "Elutionsverfahren" ("Leaching methods") of NA 119-01-02 AA "Abfall- und Bodenuntersuchung" ("Waste and soil investigation") at the Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW).
