This Technical Specification defines the processes, measures and demonstration of safety for electric traction systems of railways, guided mass transport systems and trolleybus systems. These systems can be elevated, at-grade and underground. This Technical Specification refers to standards and common practice to demonstrate safety including the functional aspects. This Technical Specification applies to the erection of new lines and to all significant changes to existing lines. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 351.2 "Ortsfeste Anlagen" ("Fixed installations") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
