This part of IEC 62282 is a Technical Specification and describes standard test procedures for single cells of polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFC). This Technical Specification provides consistent and repeatable procedures for testing the performance of single cells. It applies to component manufacturers or stack manufacturers that assemble components to investigate the performance of the cell components including membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) and gas distributor plates. This Technical Specification is also applicable to fuel suppliers to determine the maximum permissible impurities in fuels. This Technical Specification covers cell assemblies, test station setup (test stand), measuring instruments and measuring methods, performance test methods, and test reports for PEFC single cells and is used to assess - the performance of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs), - the materials and structures of other PEFC components, and - influence of impurities in fuel and/or in air on the fuel cell performance. The responsible committee is DKE/K 384 "Brennstoffzellen" ("Fuel cells") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
