Overview

This preliminary standard applies for components for the protection of birds which are used with overhead lines with a nominal voltage of 1 kV up to and including 45 kV. These components shall have a uniform standard regarding the efficiency, durability and grid-related compatibility. The present standard does not address the shaping of the components, but rather specifies the requirements to be met and tests to be passed. The responsible body is K 421 "Freileitungen" ("Overhead lines") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
