Overview

Cables and wires intended for permanent installation in buildings are CE marked in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011 (Construction Products Regulation). This pre-standard serves as a guide for the assignment of classes of reaction-to-fire performance for cables in order to ensure safety in the event of a fire. In accordance with the scope of this pre-standard there are no restrictions on its application. The standard differs from DIN VDE V 0250-10 (VDE V 0250-10):2017-02 as follows: a) the scope of the pre-standard has been revised; b) requirements with regard to installation have been removed; c) Annex A has been completely revised; d) Table A.1 has been deleted and a new table with examples of classifications of national and European cable types according to the Euroclasses has been added; e) informative Annex B, "Overview of test requirements according to DIN EN 50575 (VDE 0482-575) for cables and electrical wires" has been added; f) informative Annex C, "Halogen-free cables and electrical conductors with improved fire performance" has been added. Typical areas of application for this document include the assignment of classes of reaction-to-fire performance for cables.
