Training content
This course covers the determination of the Vickers hardness and Knoop hardness of metallic materials by the Vickers and Knoop indentation hardness principles. This standard provides the requirements for Vickers and Knoop hardness machines and the procedures for performing Vickers and Knoop hardness tests. This course includes downloadable resources including a procedural outline and a pdf of the standard, instructional video content, interactive knowledge checks, and a self-grading quiz. The course can be completed in about one hour.
Aims - Reasons to attend
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the principle of the test and its steps as well as apparatus and related components used in its performance.
- Define test piece requirements, including alignment and thickness.
- Recall test procedure for determination of the Vickers hardness and Knoop hardness of metallic materials by the Vickers and Knoop indentation hardness principles.
- Recall whether conversion to other hardness scales or tensile strength values is acceptable, and if so, under what circumstances.
- Recognize reporting requirements as outlined for ASTM E92.
Who should attend this training?
This eLearning course is designed for: Anyone who runs the E10 test method or who needs an understanding of the test method and how it is properly run.
