Geodetic surveys form the basis for precise planning in many fields: Climate research and monitoring, digital systems and wireless networks, major construction projects and disaster management – all of these rely on geodetic data. In order to collect reliable data and ensure a structured approach, DIN offers a wide range of important standards on the subject of surveying, including the DIN 18709series of standards, which has been expanded in this edition to include a document on geodetic reference systems.

The DIN 18710 standard on engineering geodesy has also been revised; Parts 1 to 4 are now available here in their latest versions. The newly adopted DIN ISO 12858 provides information on accessories for geodetic instruments.

Up-to-date reference work on geodetic standards

This 9th edition of the collection of standards contains a number of changes compared with the 8th edition from 2020:

• 2 newly adopted standards
  DIN 18213 on field procedures for testing geodetic and surveying instruments and the newly published DIN 18709-6 on geodetic reference systems and reference surfaces have been added to the compendium of standards.
• 8 revised standards
  Extensive revisions have been made in particular to DIN 18703 on levelling staffs and to Parts 1 to 4 of the series of fundamental standards for engineering geodesy, DIN 18710. The series has been completely restructured in terms of content. Various adjustments have been made to reflect new technologies and processes, practical guidance has been incorporated, corrections have been made, and new developments arising from digitalization (including BIM) have been taken into account.

The 9th edition of “DIN-Taschenbuch 111 – Geodäsie” brings together, in nearly 800 pages, the key documents on the subject as well as a list of other relevant documents.
