About this product

Vibrations in construction are an often underestimated phenomenon that can affect both the safety and longevity of structures. The 5th edition of "Vibration Issues in Civil Engineering" provides comprehensive insights and practical guidelines for systematically recording vibrations and analyzing their effects. This publication is essential for all professionals involved in the construction industry who want to ensure the integrity of their projects.

What does the DIN pocketbook 289 offer?

The latest edition of "Vibration issues in construction" contains 22 individual standards, divided into basic principles and specific vibration issues. This systematic arrangement enables users to efficiently acquire and apply fundamental concepts and advanced knowledge.

  • Fundamentals: These standards cover fundamental concepts and measurement techniques that are essential for dealing with vibration in construction.
  • In-depth vibration issues: Here, man-made vibrations are analyzed, including their preliminary determination and the resulting potential effects on structures.

Detailed topics:
The document collection provides comprehensive analysis and practices on the following areas:

  • Terms and systematics of vibrations
  • Fundamentals of vibration theory
  • nnovative measurement techniques and test methods
  • Evaluation of measuring equipment
  • Determination of relevant vibration parameters
  • Competence requirements for specialists
  • Pre-determination and evaluation of vibration parameters
  • Effects of vibrations on people and buildings
  • Measures for vibration isolation

Exciting new features in a standard work on vibration theory

The 5th edition of our tried-and-tested compendium of standards on vibration theory is now available. This 700-page work contains a number of new features that are of great relevance to experts. Six documents have been revised or expanded, in some cases significantly. These changes have been made in detail:

  • Parts 1 and 2 of DIN 4150 on vibrations in construction have been revised. New aspects have been included in Part 1 and entire sections have been significantly revised. Part 2 was given a new annex, among other things.
  • DIN 4178 on bell towers was adapted to the current state of standardization and supplemented.
  • Parts 1 and 2 of DIN 45669 on the measurement of vibration immissions have been adapted editorially and in terms of content: Part 1 now includes a new appendix on measurement uncertainty and in Part 2 a number of terms have been revised and new information added.
  • DIN 45672-2 on vibration measurement on railroad tracks now has a new structure and once again reflects the current state of the art.

With "Vibration issues in the construction industry", a collection of standards is available that provides everything that is needed in the everyday professional practice of construction professionals on the subject of vibrations in a practical, compact form.

Revised standards:
DIN 4150-1, -2
DIN 4178
DIN 45669-1, -2
DIN 45672-2

The book is for:
Civil engineers, structural engineers, structural designers, architects, construction planners, authorities and testing institutes
