Airborne noise, impact noise and noise from building services systems - they can all affect the quality of living in a building. Legislation therefore provides regulations for sound insulation; DIN standards such as DIN 4109 specify, standardize and provide specialist knowledge. This collection of standards contains fifteen current documents on the subject of sound insulation.

The printed documents bring together knowledge on aspects such as minimum requirements, verifications and tests, acoustic orientation values and recommendations. Since the publication of the previous edition in 2021, there have been important changes, including to a basic sound insulation standard, DIN 4109-4.

The basic series of sound insulation standards, DIN 4109, is included here with its most important documents, including Parts 1, 2, 4 and 5 on requirements, verifications and tests. This edition also includes the new DIN 18005 standard with Supplement 1, which provides basic principles and information on taking noise protection into account in urban development. DIN 18041 on audibility in rooms rounds off the collection.

• Current documents

​​​​​​​DIN 4109-4 has been revised since the publication of the previous edition. Additions and corrections have been made to national regulations and laboratory measurement methods have been added. DIN 18005 and its supplement are included in this collection of standards for the first time and are up to date with the latest version from 07/2023.

• Thematic diversity

​​​​​​​In addition to the contents of Parts 1, 2, 4 and 5 of DIN 4109, DIN Pocketbook 35 provides the data for the mathematical verification of sound insulation in Parts 31 to 36 of the standard. This component catalog contains the data for building elements such as windows, doors and facades, for technical building systems, solid construction as well as timber, lightweight and dry construction and other aspects.

The DIN pocket book 35 is a compendium of standards with well over 500 pages that is a working aid for daily sound insulation practice in the construction industry.
