Professional planning, tendering and execution of landscaping works require knowledge of numerous standards. DIN Handbook 81/1 brings together the documents relevant to this field in a compact collection of standards and supports users in implementing services in accordance with the standards in the context of ATV DIN 18320 “Landscaping Works”. The included rules and standards are supplemented by selected standards from the corresponding STLB-Bau service area 003.

The 19th edition contains the key documents in their original wording and provides an up-to-date working basis for the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of outdoor facilities. DIN Handbook 81/1 is divided into three subject areas:

• Vegetation areas: Standards on earthworks, planting and planting works, turf and seeding works, bioengineering stabilization methods, and the protection of trees, plant stands and vegetation areas during construction work.
• Sports and play areas: Standards on planning, dimensions, irrigation and drainage, as well as turf, cinder, synthetic and synthetic turf systems. These are supplemented by safety requirements and test methods for playground equipment and playground surfacing.
• Basic and planning standards: Documents on barrier-free construction in public transport and outdoor spaces, building stairs and tolerances in building construction.
