This standard applies to the arch brick formats with a length of 250 mm and 124 mm, which are preferred in German-speaking countries and some other European countries, as well as the internationally widespread arch brick formats with a length of 230 mm, 172 mm and 114 mm. The document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-02-57 AA "Ungeformte, dichte geformte und wärmedämmende feuerfeste Erzeugnisse und Werkstoffe" ("Unshaped, dense shaped and insulating refractory products and materials") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
