This document contains rules for the manufacture, testing, design, and execution of coherent interlocking revetments for hydraulic engineering. It is intended for manufacturers, engineers, and companies involved in the lining of dams and dikes with interlocking revetments in coastal protection and inland areas. Together with DIN 1186-100, this document is intended to provide users with a basis for the requirements of interlocking revetments. This document specifies requirements for interlocking concrete riprap in hydraulic engineering with regard to the product, design, and installation. The standard applies to the entire interlocking revetment system, consisting of interlocking revetment blocks and connecting elements (for example, toe protection and crown). The revetment blocks are used in areas subject to wave and current loads for the extensive reinforcement of embankments on coasts and inland. These revetments are accessible and shall be passable for maintenance and repair (depending on the substrate). Attention is drawn to the deviating regulations and hydraulic loads resulting from shipping on federal waterways. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 119-02-19 AA "Verzahnte Deckwerke im Wasserbau" "Interlocked revetments") at DIN Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW).
