This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 055-02-03 AA "Laborarmaturen" " Valves and fittings" at DIN Standards Committee Laboratory Devices and Installations (FNLa). This document specifies the requirements for decontamination showers used to decontaminate chemical and biological substances. This document is a product standard. It applies to users who wear full protection suits and have to decontaminate them before removing them at the end of a regular shift in order to prevent the spread of contamination. This document specifies requirements for stationary and semi-stationary decontamination showers. This document also specifies requirements with regard to the installation and marking of decontamination showers, as well as requirements for the information on operation and maintenance that shall be provided by the manufacturer. This document does not apply to emergency safety showers; these are described in the DIN EN 15154 series of standards. This document does not apply to decontamination showers used in connection with activities involving asbestos (TRGS 519), work in contaminated areas (TRGS 524), or activities involving pyrolysis products from organic material that have a benzo[a]pyrene concentration of 50 mg/kg or higher (TRGS 551).
