Overview

This standard specifies combinations of tolerance classes for general purpose ISO internal metric screw threads manufactured using chipless thread forming. For threads not listed in Tables 2 to 5, the specifications from Table 1 and DIN ISO 965-1 shall be used. The Committee has decided to use the customary German market designation “Gewindeformen” (translated as “thread forming” in this standard). The designation “Gewindefurchen” (translated as “cold-forming” in the previous edition of this standard) used in DIN 8583-5 has no market relevance and has been intentionally rejected. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 152-02-01 AA "Gewinde" ("Screw threads") at DIN Standards Committee Technical Fundamentals (NATG).
