The use of dental implants has significantly increased in recent years. Correspondingly, the need for instruments for manual preparation of the implant bed necessary for placing the dental implants has also significantly increased. As a result, diverse moulds for osteomes have been developed in practice. The terms used on the market can deviate from the terms designated in this standard, depending on the manufacturer. This standard contains requirements for metal instruments for manual preparation of the implant bed and specifies requirements and test methods for moulds and dimensions as well as information for marking. The standard has been prepared by Working Group NA 014-00-21-02 AK "Instrumente für die dentale Implantologie" ("Instruments for dental implantology") in Working Committee NA 014-00-21 AA "Dentalimplantate" ("Dental implants") at NADENT.
