Overview

Explosion-proof portable transfer pumps for dangerous fluids, with electric motor (GUP) are used in Zone 1 hazardous areas to transfer corrosive liquids, petroleum products, and flammable liquids of explosion groups II A and II B and temperature classes T1 through T3. The standard is being revised in order to incorporate necessary changes resulting from a new efficiency regulation for electric motors. As a result of the new efficiency regulations the explosion-proof motors used for pumps in accordance with this standard may now only be manufactured to IE3 Premium Efficiency. These motors are longer than those previously used, which affects the overall length of the pump. The dimensions of the frame, particularly the positions of the fixing points, remain unchanged. The anchor points of the frame are not altered so that the existing bearing plate continues to fit.
