Overview

This document describes requirements and test procedures for separation stations for fire extinguishing and fire protection systems with stagnant water (hereinafter referred to as separation station), exclusively for - sprinkler systems, - extinguishing systems with open nozzles, and - wall hydrant systems that do not contain any additives or additional water feeds and water replenishment systems into the fire extinguishing and fire protection system, nor any additional systems for maintaining or increasing pressure. The requirements of this document apply in conjunction with the requirements of DIN 1988-600. The use of separation stations in accordance with this document takes both fire protection and drinking water hygiene requirements into account. This document has been prepared by Joint Working Group NA 003-02-02-05 Gemeinschaftsarbeitskreis NAA/NAW/FNFW: Sicherungskombination mit Sperrzone" ("Joint Working Group NAA/NAW/FNFW: "Combination of safeguards with restricted zone") consisting of, among others, experts from Working Committees NA 003-02-02 AA "Armaturen für die Trinkwasserinstallation in Gebäuden" ("Valves for potable water supply in buildings"), NA 119-07-07 AA "Trinkwasser-Installationen" ("Drinking water installations") and NA 031-03-05 AA "Anlagen zur Löschwasserversorgung einschließlich Wandhydranten" ("Systems to supply water for firefighting").
