DIN 14676-2 specifies requirements for service providers who carry out the planning, installation, operation or maintenance of smoke alarm devices. In addition, the standard describes requirements for bodies that prepare, conduct and evaluate examinations. Its aim is to demonstrate professional competence for activities related to smoke alarm devices in residential buildings, apartments and rooms used in a similar way to apartments.
The standard defines requirements for the qualification of service providers for smoke alarm devices. The focus is on demonstrating the competence of specialists for smoke alarm devices as well as on the requirements for preparing, conducting and evaluating examinations. It also specifies requirements for documenting the services provided.
Smoke alarm devices make an important contribution to preventive fire protection in apartments and residential buildings. DIN 14676-2 supports owners, housing companies, service providers and specialist companies in demonstrating the professional competence required for the planning, installation, operation and maintenance of smoke alarm devices. The standard thus creates a uniform basis for qualification, examination and quality assurance in the handling of smoke alarm devices.
The 2026 edition has been revised and expanded. A new term has been added in Clause 3, the requirements for proof of competence have been restructured and supplemented, and a new clause on requirements for the service result has been introduced. In addition, the document has undergone editorial revision.
This document replaces DIN 14676-2:2018-12 .
