Overview

Boxes described in this document are intended to hold firefighting equipment, such as hand tools, power tools, loading kits, dressing material, and medical equipment. They are primarily carried on fire-brigade vehicles. This amendment to the previous edition of DIN 14880 from December 2013 is, among other things, intended to achieve the following: - expand material options for the box; - the entire interior of the box shall be equipped with an easily removable organization system; - tool storage in a logical manner, taking ergonomic principles into consideration; - protection of the contents against slipping and damage during storage; - where possible, individual storage of individual items. For this purpose the standard differs from DIN 14880:2013-12 as follows: - alternative materials (A) have been included; - mass for Type 1 cases without lids has been increased; - a requirement has been added that handles shall not be made of belt material; - designs as a trolley and/or with shoulder straps are now permitted. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 031-04-09 AA "Sonstige Ausrüstung - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 5" ("Other equipment - mirror committee of CEN/TC 192/WG 5") at DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW).
