The standard defines the projection formats for digital projection. The standard contains specifications regarding the pixel space to be displayed for each individual image format. It also contains the tolerances within which the image formats are to be displayed. The standard is to be used for all new cinema installations and for inspections of projection technology in cinemas. The standard is not applicable to home cinema installations and to Full HD or Ultra HD displays. This document has been prepared at DIN Standards Committee Entertainment Technology, Photography and Cinematography (NVBF), the responsible Working Committee NA 149-00-03 AA "Produktion, Wiedergabe und Archivierung von audiovisuellen Medien" ("Production, playback and preservation of motion picture and sound"). The following parts are planned under the general title "Digital Cinema - Image Projection": - Part 1: Image geometries and their tolerances; - Part 2: Description of test images for checking the image geometry (in preparation).
This document has been replaced by: DIN 15584-1:2019-09 .
