This document is part of the standards program for accessories for mechanical pressure gauges. This document specifies dimensions and materials for siphons and siphon-type components for pressure gauges and their accessories. Siphons and siphon-type components separate the measuring instrument from the steam on the process side (that is, the pressure tap side) by means of the condensate of the medium being measured. This thermally decouples the measuring instrument from the process. Three types of siphons for horizontal pressure tapping (U-shape) are specified: - type A: with a connection on the pressure tapping side; - type B: with a welded connection on the pressure tapping side; - type F: with welded on both sides. Three types of siphons are specified for vertical pressure tapping (circular shape): - type C: with a connection on the pressure tapping side; - type D: with a welded connection on the pressure tapping side; - type G: with welded connections on both sides. Two connection types are specified: for siphon types A, B, C, and D (with left-hand thread for clamping sleeve, on the instrument side); - for siphons types A and C (pressure tap side). Two types are specified for compact siphons: - type P: with cylindrical thread; - type T: with tapered thread. This document does not apply to flat sealing rings. Requirements for flat sealing rings are specified in DIN EN 837-1.
