This standard defines basic terms in printing technology. It is intended to standardize the technical language within the defined framework in order to ensure the unambiguous use of technical terms in operation, training and science. This standard explains the basic terms in accordance with the latest state of the art and terminological principles, whereby deficiencies in existing language usage are eliminated as far as possible or identified as such in the interests of practical understanding. Other word combinations not listed here are to be derived from the basic terms. This standard has been prepared by DIN Standards Committee Printing and Graphic Technology (NDR), Working Committee NA 017-00-03 AA "Prozesssteuerung und zugehörige Messtechnik" ("Process control and related metrology").
